Front Carry

We hope this page will explain the easiest way to front carry in your Simply Mei Tai.

Firstly, you need to tie the Mei Tai tightly around your waist using a standard double knot, I prefer tying with the waist down but you can also tie with the waist up folded under which forms a sort of seat for your baby. Next bring baby to your waist with her legs either side of your waist. For newborns please see bottom of page.

Now you need to bring the Mei Tei body up over the back of your baby taking care to support your baby at all times. Then put your left hand on baby's back whilst slinging the right strap over your right shoulder with your right hand.

Swap hands and do exactly the same for the opposite side. Now you will have both long straps hanging down behind you. With your left hand reach behind you and grab the opposite strap and pull round to the front of you. Now with this same hand support your baby whilst you do the same on the other side.

Now both of your hands complete with straps should be meeting at the front. I find it best to pull the straps whilst jiggling a bit to get the best position possible for you and baby. Tie the straps in a secure knot under the baby's bottom.

And Voila, you're done!

Newborn Positioning

For the newborn hold, you will probably find it best to fold the Mei Tai up to make it shorter and to tie the straps around the middle of the Mei Tai rather than under his/her bottom, this gives more support for baby's back and closes up the gap either side to ensure that your baby doesnt fall out! When your newborn is so tiny you will probably find it best if baby's legs are inside the Mei Tai in the froggy position rather than outside as pictured above.
